Yam-Digging Break
9 a.m.
“Alright, today’s the day! Let’s make some headway on the English subtitles for the Online Concert!”
Pumping myself up for the work that lies ahead, I sit down facing my computer.
That’s when I hear: "knock knock knock”
My teacher appears.
“I’d like to dig up the yams today.”
The streaming day is fast approaching.
“Yams…? Now…?”
To be honest, I froze for a moment.
…But, I do want to eat baked yams…
Once I stepped outside, it was a beautiful autumn day, and my concerns for the due date instantly disappeared.
Lately, I’ve been so focused on editing and prepping for the streaming, I’ve barely moved, barely gone outside, and can’t take my eyes off of the screen.
Even the seconds before falling asleep, and the moment after waking up, I’m thinking about the online concert.
We’ve all started to become a bit neurotic about it.
Even though our vision of harvesting mounds and mounds of yams and peanuts were slightly disappointed, basking int he sunlight, touching the soil, and working up a sweat, I came back to my normal self.
I’ll roll up my sleeves and get back to the subtitling in the afternoon.
You know, taking some yam-digging breaks might not be a bad way to space out work after all.
Just don’t tell that to the editor working his butt off on the ???th revision of the footage right about now!

PS: Our Hatake (veggie garden) is looking great!
